Other Entertainers

These are an ever evolving collection of some of my favorite jugglers. If you are looking for local entertainers, look here.

Anthony Gatto

Unquestionably the greatest technical juggler alive today and maybe that ever was. Pure magic to watch perform.

Jay Gilligan

One of the greats alive today. Jay is a great technical juggler, but is most well known for his artistic inovation. I can watch him juggle all day.

Wes Peden:

Son of an talented, if of normal caliber, juggler, Wes is becoming one of my absolute favorites. He will be one of the great ones if he puts his mind to it. Check out his youtube channel.

Michael Karas:

Michael Karas is JUGGLinGsanity. I have become a huge fan of his. Based out of Pittsburgh, he is a young, very talented, juggler. I met him at IJA fests 2004 and 2005.

Juggler Jim:

Neat guy I met at both Hurricane Hugo (2003) and Groundhog's Day Fest (2004). He's about my skill-level (a bit better with most things). And just a neat guy to talk to.

Olga and Vova Galchenko:

Olga and Vova are a sister-brother team (22 & 20 as of August 2007). Their skill level is simply incredible, especially considering their youth. They are currently the best passing act on the planet.

Check out their website. They have lots of videos to peruse. Their videos they're killer.

Luke Burrage:

Very talented young English juggler with a flare for the creative.

Bruce "Boppo" Tiemann:

World-class juggler, whose brother is a VP (was the CTO) of my previous employer. NOTE: his website is *way* out of date.

He also wrote an excellent article: Boppo's Numbers Juggling Notes.

Boppo has dropped out of the world of juggling unfortunately.

Mark Nizer - World reknown juggler who I saw perform awhile ago. Very talented; very funny.

Francis Brunn - one of the greats. Especially known for his impossible trick.

Jason Garfield - another amazing technical juggler. Noted for his volatile moods, posturing, and attitude. He is semi-successfully promoting juggling as a sport with the World Juggling Federation

Pat McGuire - one of the greats in my opinion. Especially known for his bounce juggling and his style.

Michael Moschen - "One of the leading jugglers of our time". Mr. Moschen more or less "invented" Contact Juggling -- more appropriately, he "defined" the art.

Matt Jergens - I bought some clubs from him. Very talented and went to my Alma Mater, Wright State University as well (though only a year before transferring).

Jeff Lutkus - YATJ (Yet Another Talented Young Juggler) - his juggling/links/videos page. Tons of good stuff here.

Alan Plotkin - Alan is the primary figure professionally recording current juggling events. I have a couple videos by him. Good stuff.

Michael Menes - Mr. Menes is one of the most interesting jugglers (performers) alive today. He is a true artist and never lacks for great ideas. He always wows me.

Philip Earl:

Philip Earl is MooNie the Magnif'Cent. Fantastic showman I saw at the Raleigh Renn. Faire. Slackrope work, good juggling, absolutely hilarious. I was his volunteer that year (2003?). Of course, I hammed it up. Anyway, I was truly impressed with his act. One of the best I have seen in a long time.

Steven Ragatz - Cirque du Soleil star, and just fantastic, artsy juggler. I got to see him perform at an IJA festival in 2005(?).

The Odd Company - "Seriously Amazing. Dangerously Funny." - a Maine based theater troupe. Fritz Grobe, a really talented, gold medal winning juggler is a member of this troupe. I met Fritz at the IJA fests 2004 and 2005.

Jugglah.com - Jonathan Perry - great young juggler, originally from the Atlanta area, now based out of Delaware (I believe). I met him at the Hurricane Hugo and Groundhog's Day fests.

Matt Hall Juggling Sensei - extremely talented non-professional juggler; most famous for his diabolo work but outstanding otherwise as well. I love his training page/siteswap list.

Randy Cabral - nice guy; friends of the Altanta crew. Works in the Disney cruiselines. Competed in seniors at the IJA fest in 2004. He had a killer routine, but dropped a couple times, so he didn't win. That was unfortunate, as he was outstanding. I love his style. Part of his routine was hat and cane which I really love to watch.

The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus - I really only know these guys via Keith Bindlestiff who is a regular on the Renegade stage of that last three IJA fests I have been to. I love his style. I love his pulpy, 1920-ish monologues. And he also dabbles in some of the sideshowy time acts you don't see often anymore. Great stuff.

The Flying Karamazov Brothers

Juglito ergo sum - I juggle therefore I am

The Flying Karamazov Brothers are arguably the most influential juggling team. They are probably the most well-known mainstream-ish jugglers because they are first and foremost a musical comedy act... that also juggles. They are also the most successful juggling toupe in the world and have been in existence for about 30 years.

Monica and I saw them perform locally in 2005 and 2006. They also were honored at the 2005 IJA festival and I saw them perform there. What was really special was that got the rare opportunity to juggle with a Brother in a workshop they held. If I remember correctly that Brother was Tim Furst or "Fyodor". They were outstanding. They also have a nice Wikipedia article.

Michael Rosman - "Amazing Feats of Comedy" - guy I met at the 2005 IJA festival. He also tends to emcee many of the activities there. He's also the main mover behind MotionFest, now tentatively called MiniFest. A buddy of mine and I spent way too much time talking politics with him after way too much beer. Very talented.
